The BC Surgical Society held its 67th Annual Spring Meeting May 8 – 10 at the beautiful Westin Bear Mountain Golf Resort and Spa in Victoria. The meeting was attended by a record 79 surgeons and residents, and was highly successful.
Our Royal College speaker was Dr. Susan Reid, Professor and Chair of the Department of Surgery at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. Other guest speakers included Drs. Sonia Butterworth (Pediatrics), Reginald Smith (Cardiovascular Medicine & Thrombosis) and Robert Taylor (International Surgery).
Resident research prizes were awarded to Dr. Lisa Aird, first place prize; Dr. Zaheer Kanji, second place prize; Dr. Catherine Beaumier, third place prize.
The banquet dinner with entertainment from the Bob Mahaney quartet featuring Leslie Mounteney, was enjoyed by all.
Ms. Diane Wong, Executive Coordinator for 20 years was presented with a gift from the Society and thanked for all her hard work.
The next BC Surgical Society Annual Spring Meeting will take place at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler, April 30th – May 2nd, 2015.
