Sent on behalf of Dr. Ahmer Karimuddin – President, BC Surgical Society
This message is to inform you that this year’s BC Surgical Society Annual Spring Meeting has unfortunately been cancelled, due to the pandemic. The safety of attendees must always come first, and with a lot of unknowns for the fall, this seems to be the best decision.
I am hopeful that we will be able to host a meeting in the Spring of 2021, and you will hear more about those plans later this year.
As a result of this and not hosting our AGM as well, the Executive team has agreed to extend my term as President for another year, with Dr. Anise Barton stepping into this role next spring.
Abstracts selected for the 2020 program will have an opportunity to present their research at the UBC Division of General Surgery Reticulum Sessions in September. Further details will follow. Registration refunds have already been issued early on in our initial decision to postpone the event to the fall. If you have not received your refund, please contact Alyson Thomas (firstname.lastname@example.org).
I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and look forward to greeting you, and your families, next year.
Ahmer Azhar Karimuddin, MD, FRCSC
